Flava of the Month ~ Georgia Brown’s
July 2, 2010
The mood is set as soon as you walk through the doors. The dim light setting along with the “easy-listening” music being played allows you to relax and prepare yourself for what’s to come. The seating is cozy and the atmosphere is just right.
After being seated, I placed my order for dinner and a drink. Two minutes later, the waiter comes back with my drink in hand. I had to ask him did he go behind the bar and make it himself. I never had a drink made that fast in that type of setting. Approximately 5 minutes after the drink arrives, dinner (for 2) is brought out.

Southern Fried Chicken
Marinated in Sweet Tea and served piping hot with Smashed Redskin Potatoes, braised Collard Greens and your choice of Pan or Giblet Gravy
One bite into this dish and you’ll feel like you’re back in your grandmother’s kitchen, deep in the backwoods of the country. The chicken is fried to perfection, the potatoes have the texture and consistency as if you stood there and smashed them yourself, and the greens taste like they were fresh off the farm. I also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese that was just superb.
The experts say that we eat for taste. After eating here, I find a lot of truth in that. I had to refrain from ordering seconds. If you are new to the Washington D.C. area, or just looking for a place for a nice first date, Georgia Brown’s is definitely worth the visit.
Georgia Brown, your SWAG is on 100!!!! Keep up the good work!
