The City Beat

There’s a rumor going around about the #1 hype man/Lead talker in the Washington D.C. GO-Go scene, Donnell “D.Floyd” Floyd. Rumor has it that he left the band he created in 2001, “Familiar faces.”

Well the rumors turn out to be true. D. Floyd left the group a short time after they returned from a trip to Miami  in late July, where they had just performed. D. Floyd is well known on the GO-GO circuit for writing and performing for almost 20 years with another local band, Rare Essence where he enjoyed great success.

It is still unknown why D. Floyd left Familiar Faces but Swagevents.com is still investigating this story and will try to confirm this as soon as possible.

We have also found out that Derek “DP” Paige (D.Floyd’s cousin) has also left the group for unknown reasons.

One Night Standing… Catch 22 or Win –Win Situation?

Remember last Friday we were talking about love in a club… and it brought us to the “alternative”…. It posed a question that I’m not sure even I alone after all these years can answer. Its 2010 a lot has changed but has the idea that a woman that would have a one night stand not be considered “easy” changed?
Sex and love do not always go together and I must say I know just as many men as women who seem to still believe they do.

The Rapper known as “The Boss” has a lot to be happy about these days. It’s been reported that Rick Ross has been allowed to release his upcoming album “Teflon Don”. The former drug dealer, Freeway Ricky Ross, where the current artist “Rick Ross” gets his name, had filed an injunction to stop the release of the forth coming album saying “I did twenty years in prison and beau coups of money went into making this name and what it is today. I feel it was mine, I own it and I want it back.” “It’s mine. Its like if somebody stole your car, even though they painted it and put wheels on it that they like, it’s still your car.” Freeway Ross was released from jail back in 09 after serving a 20 year bid for cocaine trafficking. He was a Drug king-pin in L.A. back in the early 80′s. At his peak, he was bringing in upwards of $2 million a day.

Freeway Ross made comments that the artist is making millions at his expense and has stolen his image and likeness. Rick Ross the artist stated that he wasn’t worried about the lawsuit ($10million)and was just gonna let it play out however it may. He also stated that he hasn’t changed his name, but he adopted a new nick name “Ricky Rozay.” He says that he just started “Tweeting” and that’s his twitter account name.
