The world knows him as “Slim Charles” from the cable series “The Wire” but back home in Washington DC, he’s known as “Big-G” from his band “Backyard.” His tall, slinky statue has been gracing the stage on the GO-Go scene since the late 80′s. Big-G is no stranger to the violence and undesirable activates that plague the streets of D.C. He has been arrested as well as shot and has seen loved ones pass away. But that hasn’t stopped him from reaching for success and making a change.

Big-G has been in movies, music videos, and has been seen on well known TV shows such as “Law & Order.” His love for his city and passion for film making is second to none. He has big dreams for the youth of tomorrow and is striving hard to make Washington DC a premier location for successful film-works. With an attitude like his, how can you not win? Big-G, Swagevents.com stands behind you and we hope that the rest of your city supports you as well.

As a young boy he moved from place to place with his single mother before finally settling in with family in Mt. Pleasant, PA. There he discovered street life and developed a perspective of life rarely held by other youth his age. The popular hip-hop parties of the late 80s and early 90s proved to be a good escape. It was at these parties –during the golden years of hip-hop–that Venem fell in love with hip-hop music and culture.

After several run-ins with the law and being expelled from school, Venem moved with his family to Northern Virginia hoping for a fresh start. With the harsh realities of life setting in, music provided the outlet he needed to express himself. At the tender age of 17 he wrote, produced, mixed and engineered his first album, Unsigned Hype. With rough, gritty lyrics over hard-knock, sample-free beats, Venem made a local classic that was loved for its battle-rap style and musical originality.

Venem’s first official mixtape, Spittin Venom Vol. 1, released in 2004, revealed a refinement of range and delivery with songs like “Venem’s Town” which caught the attention of DJ Whoo Kid of G-Unit who played it on rapper Eminem’s satellite radio station. Touching on explosive topics ranging from crime to government corruption, Spittin Venom Vol. 1 earned a coveted spot on MTV’s Mixtape Monday and was featured in MTV’s Shaheem Reid’s “Don’t Sleep” column. In 2006 Venem released the critically acclaimed Spittin Venom Vol. 2 hosted by DJ Young Legend of Tapemasters Inc. The well-rounded CD, with thought-provoking lyrics on everything from street life to relationships, gave listeners a deeper insight into Venem the artist and from whence he came. Venem teamed up with former Black Wall Street recording artist Heat, fellow VA rapper J-Roc and producer Manny Perez for one of the grittier tracks on the album, “Remember Me”. On “What Went Wrong”, Venem laments over the familiar topic of lost love. But it was the clever freestyle track “Blackout” that landed Venem a spot on DJ Big Mike’s Big Boy Game 10.

Venem’s next installment, Spittin Venom Vol. 3: PA to VA is slated for release this month. Having performed at numerous venues including The Velvet Lounge in Washington, DC and the Vernon Davis First Annual Charity Event hosted by DC radio station WPGC 95.5FM and appearing on mixtapes by DJ Duke, DJ Mami Fresh, Tha Tzar, Mr. 08, and DJ Heat, Venem has already generated interest in his upcoming CD with songs like “Change Gon’ Come” ft. rapper/singer R.I.C.A; “Primitive”; and “Call Me Daddy” ft. singer G. Hector, in which Venem shows off his lighter, flirtatious side. On “Fear No Man”, Venem fearlessly tackles the subject of religion: “The Devil loves when we lie, cheat and kill people/We fornicate before marriage, are we less evil?/When you hear about priests molesting little kids/Are you following God’s word, if you don’t forgive?”

Venem unapologetically tells it like it is, whether the topic is upper-class society–“Poor getting poorer, rich fuckers feel fantastic/Catch AIDS then don’t have it, it’s Magic”; his enemies–“If they wanna go to war like Bush with no info/I’m JFK’ing niggas from a high-rise window”; or himself–“I take my life, times and crimes/Chop them up and put them in rhymes/It’s like a light to the blind, the way my flow will just shine”. Venem…REAL hip-hop makes a comeback.

Raymond “Prophecy Tha KyD” Gwynn and Jason “Bloodhound” Jackson powerhouse hip hop group with unique style and sound collaborated August of 2004. The original members consisted of Prophecy Da KyD, Bloodhound, and Anthony “Truth” Linnen whom parted ways in September 2009 leaving just Prophecy and Bloodhound to continue on to capture the flag to success. Since the departure; Bloodhound and Prophecy have performed in various venues (i.e. The Black Hole Night Club, 5 Seasons, and Club Reality). These two artist stay humble as they work to perfect there craft passionately and efficiently. The two promising singles “Red and Green” and “Paparazzi Girl” have created slight buzz in the Baltimore Underground Circuit but they hope to rise to mainstream heights so that they can extend there passionate lyricism to the masses.

“2011 is our year period no questions asked” screamed Bloodhound and Prophecy and they do indeed intend on making this year there breakout year. There passion is what drives them through the lyrical autobahn with ease and relaxation. Prophecy and Bloodhound reunited with Syranno in spring of 2010 bringing him in confidently as management for there powerhouse group. These three are now inseparable and like the cartoon cult classic Voltron; Syranno being the head both Prophecy and Bloodhound being the legs and music being the arms and they plan on coming together to make there mark in the hip hop scene and concrete there classic status.

MISSKEY was raised in Knoxville TN in a city that is just as hard as any. Despite being from “the hood” and around everything that comes with it, MISSKEY always had a vision. Brought up by her mother and grandmother, she watched her mother work 10-12 hour shifts to take care of her family as she still does to this day. “Key” as she called by friends and family used seeing that as motivation to strive for something better and wanted more out of life. But nothing more than making things easier for her family and most of all making it to where her mother doesn’t have to work anymore. Dancer, writer, rapper, promoter MISSKEY has many titles but none more important than mother. To a smart beautiful eight year old daughter named Kyiala.

MISSKEY has been dancing since she was five years old. She has always had a passion for entertaining. She studied modern dance, west African dance, was a dancing doll, part of the hip-hop dance team and in the band all at Austin East Magnet High School where she graduated from in 1999. She moved to Nashville TN, shortly after to attend Tennessee State University to study business and fashion merchandising. After a year of college, as fate would have it she got pregnant and was blessed with a baby girl. She moved back to Knoxville to raise her daughter with the baby’s father. A few years later she got into promoting shows in the local clubs and also areas in Mississippi. Bringing artist like Rick Ross, OJ da Juice man, and legendary Memphis TN, rapper Playa Fly to name a few.

Always having a knack for writing poems and even her own movie scripts but never thought of rapping. MISSKEY seen how promoting and rapping could go hand in hand. After endless writing and practicing getting her flow tight, she decided to hit the booth and it seemed to come natural to her. With numerous performances notable, one such as opening for Young Jeezy, Yo Gotti, La Chat, and OJ da Juice man which she also promoted the show. MISSSKEY describes her style as sexy and cool sort of like the TLC feel of whom she was a huge fan of growing up. Other influences like Aaliyah, Da Brat, Lil Kim, Mia X, La Chat, Trina, Beyonce, and Khia. Putting out her first mixtape in 2009 titled “The Other Woman”. While building her buzz in the city she was awarded indie female artist of the year 2009 at the KnocdownIndieAwards in Memphis TN. Just a taste of things to come for the born star. Set to drop her second mixtape “MATEREAL” GIRL and learning more and more about the business perfecting her craft, MISSKEY is ready to take music career and 2FLY ENT. imprint to the next level. Sky’s THE LIMIT

Miss Key will be performing on BET’s 106 and Park in October so make sure you tune in. She is also in the running for rap artist of the year again. Go here to cast your vote.

From the streets of Washington D.C. Cedes comes with real, clear focused lyrics with a style like no other. Born as Mercedes Walker, the D.C. native rapper is known for her unique deliverance, with the ability to bring back the realness to hip-hop that we’ve all been waiting for. Brought up in the land of go-go music, Cedes has created her own style based on a range of influences compiled of poetry, and artists from different genres that have predisposed her to the rap game like, Scarface, MC Light, Aaliyah, and Tupac. While having a dash of go-go flavor in her music, Cedes still accomplishes to bring a different sound as a young female rapper to the game. Raised with a typical upbringing as a child in D.C., Cedes experienced a good lifestyle along with struggling times. Not letting any obstacles get in her way, Cedes began rapping at the age of 13 years old and since then, has collaborated with several well known D.C artists like Da Committee, Backyard Band, Raheem DeVaughn, along with Fugativ, and Boxie from New York that has helped pave her path for success. As you hear in Cedes’ voice throughout her lyrics, she has a passion to speak a message always of realness that will touch someone. With her skills to deliver clear sounds made up of thought out words of personal experiences, Cedes’ goal is always to reach someone by telling others how she sees life through her eyes. Cedes, a true Lady of hip-hop displays her passion to create impacting stories through her lyrics, while differentiating herself from the rest.
