R&B Artist performs with DC Go-Go Band

The beautiful Teairra Mari came to Washington D.C. on Thursday August 26 for the “Supa Star Thursday’s” party held at the Capitol Heights Ballroom.  After a few local rap artist and go-go bands performed, Mari hit the stage live with the upcoming bounce beat band  New Impressionz. D.C. Mayoral Candidate accused of having local radio personality fired

It is being alleged that Mayoral candidate Vince Gray is responsible for the recent firing of Anwman “Big-G” Glover, a Wkys radio personality. Glover is known locally for being the front man of the Backyard Band,one of the original DC Go-Go bands. He is also known nationally for his acting on several HBO series as well as NBC. Read more

With the divorce rate in this country being over fifty percent, why then do people continue to get married? The economy makes it difficult even if you divorce to live separate at this time. The City Beat

There’s a rumor going around about the #1 hype man/Lead talker in the Washington D.C. GO-Go scene, Donnell “D.Floyd” Floyd. Rumor has it that he left the band he created in 2001, “Familiar faces.”

Well the rumors turn out to be true. D. Floyd left the group a short time after they returned from a trip to Miami  in late July, where they had just performed. D. Floyd is well known on the GO-GO circuit for writing and performing for almost 20 years with another local band, Rare Essence where he enjoyed great success.

It is still unknown why D. Floyd left Familiar Faces but Swagevents.com is still investigating this story and will try to confirm this as soon as possible.

We have also found out that Derek “DP” Paige (D.Floyd’s cousin) has also left the group for unknown reasons.
